Building a deck in Delta: what's required
Delta publishes its own submission requirements for carport and sundeck additions, and a permit application is reviewed against them along with the BC Building Code. The Application Centre is the front door for residential permits; where a property sits low on the delta, engineering requirements can add to the set. We prepare the submission to Delta's own checklist and handle the enquiries.

Do I need a permit to build a deck in Delta?
Most decks do. Delta publishes its own submission requirements for carport and sundeck additions, and applications go through the city's Application Centre. We prepare the drawing set to that checklist and submit it.
Does soft ground in Ladner change the build?
It changes the foundations. Fraser delta silt settles differently than upland till, so footings get sized — or switched to helical piles — for the bearing the soil actually offers. The deck above is standard; the ground below is what we engineer for.
What holds up best in Tsawwassen's sun?
Tsawwassen sees more sun than almost anywhere else we build, so dark boards run hot and cheap surfaces fade fast. Mineral-based composite and lighter colourways hold their look; we also plan shade structures more often here than anywhere but Langley.
